About Stacey Anderson Laatsch
Hi, I’m Stacey, the writer behind Anderson Laatsch.
I write supernatural mysteries about skeptical people, enduring myths and lore, and evidence that sometimes refuses to be explained. My fiction lives at the crossroads of folklore, grief, investigation, and the unsettling possibility that the rational explanation may not be enough.
What I Write
My current series, Thea Drake Case Files, follows a woman drawn into investigations shaped by curses, haunted places, buried histories, and the occasional inconvenient ghost.
The first novel, The Witch’s Throne, is available now. I am currently at work on the next case, Haunts of the Brethren.
I am interested in the tension between what people believe, what they can prove, and what they do when the facts refuse to cooperate.
Storycraft
I hold an M.A. in English and Creative Writing. I spent two years editing my university’s literary journal and later taught college composition.
I love the architecture of a good story: the clue that matters more than it first appears, the character who makes the wrong choice for understandable reasons, the reversal that changes everything, and the careful revision that makes a mystery feel inevitable.
I also write essays about storycraft, creativity, and building a writing life in the middle of ordinary adulthood.
Beyond the Page
I live in central Illinois, where I divide my time among writing, reading mysteries, journaling over too much coffee, and Orangetheory workouts.
I share my home with Jeepers, a Maltipoo who believes every serious writing session should be interrupted by a walk.
I also write Mid-Life Horror, a Substack about horror, creativity, and the strange business of building a life around the work that matters.
